Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit may undergo additional drug testing leading up to UFC 154 fight

Though there has never been any evidence to support the claim, there have been rumors in the past of UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre attaining his otherworldly abilities with the assistance of performance enhancing drugs. With a title-fight looming against Carlos Condit in November, St-Pierre has now come out to say he is open to increased drug testing leading up to their bout to clear up the matter once and for all.

St-Pierre?s willingness to do so was also matched by Condit?s camp through one of his representatives, creating the possibility of each man proving without question he is clean before their encounter.

?You can?t be against virtue. If you have nothing to hide there is nothing wrong with doing additional testing such as VADA, Olympic-type testing, etc,? explained GSP in an interview with SportsNet. ?I don?t condemn the athletic commissions but you can?t be against additional testing. If Carlos wants to do it, I am more than willing to go with VADA.?

St-Pierre Focused Squarely on Scrap with Condit

Condit, through a spokesman, echoed St-Pierre?s sentiments though with one exception.

?Carlos is obviously interested in upholding the integrity of the sport,? began publicist John Fuller. ?He would be more than interested to submit to testing, but we?d prefer to do it via the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) because we feel they are the most reputable drug testing organization in the world.?

With only two months to go before Condit and St-Pierre face off at UFC 154 time is certainly of the essence in terms of coming to an agreement. However, even if the specifics don?t work out, consider both welterweights among the growing group of fighters interested in weeding out MMA?s cheaters.
