Former WBO and WBC middleweight (160 pounds) champion, Kelly Pavlik, of Youngstown, Ohio, called his Nov. 13 bout against Bryan Lee Vera, of Austin, Tex., "Life and death for me as a fighter," adding, "I must win," and, "The future is now."

Pavlik (36-2, 32 knockouts) will face Vera (17-5, 11 KOs) in a clash of 28-year-olds on the under card of a main event at The Dallas Cowboys Stadium that will feature an HBO pay per view televised bout between seven-time champ and WBO welterweight (147 pounds) king Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs) and former titlist Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) for the vacant WBC junior middleweight (154 pounds) crown.

Pavlik will be in the ring for the first time since April, when he was dethroned by southpaw Sergio Martinez following a unanimous decision loss in Atlantic City.

Pavlik earned the crown in September of 2007, in Atlantic City, when his seventh-round knockout dethroned Jermain Taylor as undisputed champion, stopping the Arkansas resident for the first time in his career.

Pavlik then earned a non-title decision over Taylor in their return bout before defending his crown three times with stoppages of Gary Lockett, Marco Antonio Rubio, and, Miguel Espino, respectively, in the third, ninth, and, fifth rounds.
