BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno is reporting that a July 2 heavyweight match between WBO, IBO and IBF titlist, Wladimir Klitschko (pictured above, at right) of the Ukraine and WBA king David Haye of England is being considered if Klitschko gets beyond an April 30 bout opposite Zimbabwe native Dereck Chisora of London, according to Klitschko's manager, Bernd Boente.
Citing a torn abdominal muscle injury, the 34-year-old Klitschko (55-3, 49 knockouts) had pulled out of last month's scheduled defense against the 27-year-old Chisora (14-0, nine KOs) that was scheduled for the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany. Klitscho apparently suffered the injury during a workout with trainer Manny Steward.
Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, who handles Haye's affairs in America, told FanHouse on Monday that negotiations had been going well, presumably involving Boente, Klitschko's adviser, Shelly Finkel, Klitschko's manager, Tom Loeffler, of K2 Promotions, and, the manager of Haye (25-1, 23 KOs), Adam Booth.
A source from the side of the Klitschko told FanHouse on Sunday that he expected the fight to "definitely get made."
