Argentinian-born southpaw WBC middleweight (160 pounds) king Sergio Martinez will likely make a return to the ring on March 12 against southpaw middleweight contender Andy Lee of Detroit, Lee's trainer, Manny Steward, told FanHouse on Thursday. On Monday, Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser of Martinez (46-2-2, 25 knockouts), had told FanHouse that Martinez had intended to face Germany's WBC interim middleweight champion, Sebastian Zbik (30-0, 10 KOs) in order to honor a mandate by the WBC that he do so.
But on Tuesday, Martinez's promoter, Lou DiBella, informed FanHouse that HBO was not accepting Zbik as an opponent.
