Southpaw WBO featherweight (126 pounds) champion Juan Manuel Lopez of Puerto Rico will return to the ring on April 16 in a Showtime televised clash likely against Philadelphia's Teon Kennedy, in Puerto Rico, Top Rank Promotions CEO, Bob Arum, told FanHouse on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Lopez rose to 30-0 with his 27th knockout in November when he stopped 35-year-old Mexican, former world titlist Rafael Marquez (39-6, 35 KOs) in the ninth round.
Arum said that the final details of Lopez's fight are being worked out by Top Rank Promotions' Vice President, Carl Moretti, and Showtime's Ken Hershman, the network's general manager of sports.
"Juan Manuel Lopez is fighting on April 16 in Puerto Rico," said Arum. "We've given Showtime a list of opponents and names and Carl Moretti is working that out with Ken Hershman."
