As of last week, the match-up in question at UFC 154 involved a bout between Besam Yousef and Stephen Thompson. However, that is not the fight ticket holders will see come showtime. After it was announced that Thomspon was hurt a few days ago and Matt Riddle had stepped in to replace him, the fight has changed yet again as Yousef was injured in training and Riddle will now face John Maguire.
UFC officials have confirmed the change in card.
Riddle (6-3) is fresh off a 90-day suspension based on testing positive for marijuana. Though a medical marijuana patient, Riddle saw an Arm-Triangle finish changed to a No Contest after fighting Chris Clements a few months back.
Meanwhile, Maguire (18?4) was last seen falling to John Hathaway by decision in what was his first loss inside the Octagon. Prior to the Hathaway fight, Maguire was riding a seven-fight winning streak that included a pair of wins over DaMarques Johnson and Justin Edwards. The bout will be the first time Maguire has fought in North America and is only the second scrap he has had outside of the UK.
UFC 154 takes place on November 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event will feature a headlining tilt aimed at unifying the belts between current welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and interim title-holder Carlos Condit.
