White says Jones-Silva 'absolutely will happen,' Jones expects heavyweight move in 2013
"I said it in Brazil, and I'll say it again: Hell yes, they will (fight)," he said Tuesday.
Time is ticking, though; Jones said he plans to be a heavyweight as early as next year.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Fabricio Werdum reportedly agree to coach 'TUF: Brazil 2'
SportTV first reported the coaches, though UFC officials have made no formal announcement, and MMAjunkie.com could not immediately confirm the plans.
According to the report, contracts haven't been signed, but verbal agreements are in place.
Pat Barry booked for December bout with Shane Del Rosario
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale just got heavier. As if the main event bout between Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson wasn?t enough, it has been reported that Pat Barry and Shane del Rosario will also fight on the card in a heavyweight scuffle.
The card is set for December 15 and will also feature the final from the ongoing season of TUF in addition to bouts such as Mike Pyle-James Head and Dustin Poirier-Jonathan Brookins.
The fight was revealed by MMAJunkie.
Barry is coming off of a knockout loss to Lavar Johnson at UFC on FOX 3 and finds himself in need of a win. With the loss to Johnson, Barry is 2-4 since 2010. His last victory came in January of this year when he knocked out Christian Morecraft midway through the first round of their rumble.
Del Rosario was undefeated and riding an eleven-fight winning streak, including 3-0 in the Strikeforce heavyweight division, when he made his UFC debut against Stipe Miocic. Del Rosario had finished all eleven of his previous opponents and had only left the first frame a single time, though Miocic was able to overwhelm him and eventually took home the stoppage win.

Wanderlei Silva points to Anderson Silva as proof that hard work pays off
Iconic scrapper Wanderlei Silva has never crossed paths with UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva inside the cage but the two have trained together in years past and are certainly appreciative of the other?s accomplishments in MMA. Though ?The Axe Murderer? has certainly achieved some incredible things in his sixteen-year career, few fighters if any have excelled to the point his countryman has.
?The Spider? has won sixteen straight fights in the UFC and dominated nearly every round he?s been in, a matter the PRIDE stand-out recently said was not coincidence but rather a testament to Silva?s approach to competition.
?I think every sport has a guy who is different. Soccer had Pele, Formula 1 had Ayrton Senna, and MMA has Anderson,? explained Silva in an interview with Sherdog. ?He is different, but it did not start now. He trained at a gym in a small neighborhood in Curitiba and was very dedicated. You don’t make an Anderson Silva in one day. The lesson he leaves is the self-dedication. He who trains like Anderson Silva has many chances to be like him. Do not let success or the money that comes with winning change your mind. He has been a UFC champion for so long, and he still trains hard.?
?He’s on another level. He serves as an example for many people, for young fighters like Jon Jones,? he concluded on the 33-4 Silva.
“Wand” Has No Respect for Chael Sonnen
As far as his own career, Silva stated he wants to now focus on fighting at 205 pounds or even catchweights slightly below that level but is done with middleweight for the time being. The grizzled brawler also mentioned he is healing up from some injuries, bulking up a bit, and expects to fight again in early 2013.

Stephan Bonnar: ?People aren?t expecting much out of me?
At UFC 153 this weekend, Stephan Bonnar will get a chance to shock the world. Well, the portion of the world who cares about MMA, anyway. If he manages a win against Anderson Silva, the world's best fighter, he will pull off the biggest upset in MMA history. Heck, it will be a surprise if he lasts all three rounds against Silva.
In Bonnar's eyes, this puts him in a great position. No one thinks he will win, so he can't lose.
"People aren't expecting much out of me. It's like, no stress. No pressure. It's really a good place to be," Bonnar said. "It doesn't matter if I'm the undercard or the main event, and I'm going to try to steal the show."

Dustin Poirier battling Jonathan Brookins at TUF 16 Finale
UFC featherweight Dustin Poirier suffered his first loss in the Octagon earlier this year, falling to Chan Sung Jung in a surprisingly one-sided affair. The 23-year old will look to erase any lingering aftertaste from the defeat this December 15 when he faces Jonathan Brookins at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.
The match-up has been confirmed by UFC officials.
Poirier, who had a five-fight winning streak snapped with the loss to Jung, holds an overall record of 12-2 including past success against the likes of Pablo Garza, Zach Micklewright, and Josh Grispi.
Comparably, Brookins is a former Ultimate Fighter winner with victories over Yves Jabouin and Michael Johnson. The 13-5 Brookins has finished eleven of the opponents he’s beaten.
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Roy Nelson-Shane Carwin.

Dominick Cruz knows nothing about pop culture (VIDEO)
Fighters are focused people. They spend so much time on training and rehabbing and watching fight video and talking about fighting that sometimes, pop culture escapes them. Case in point: the trivia challenge Fuel TV held for fighters Dominick Cruz, Kenny Florian, Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping. Though Florian, Evans and Bisping did OK, Cruz did not. The UFC bantamweight champion has been rehabbing his knee, and it's clear the man didn't click on Yahoo! OMG while trying to pass time.
For real, Dominick? I'm not a movie person, but I know that not every movie is named "The Notebook." Also, you don't need to read US Weekly to know Bruce Springsteen's nickname, Dom.
UFC on FX 5 will answer these questions
The UFC heads to the Land of Lakes on Friday night for a card on FX. These are the big questions that will be answered by the time the fights are over.
Can Antonio Silva get back on track? In his last two bouts, "Bigfoot" has been knocked out twice. Both were in the first round, and both were to American Kickboxing Academy-trained fighters with outstanding wrestling backgrounds. On Friday, he will take on the undefeated Travis Browne. Is this the fight Silva needs to stop his losing skid?
Will Jay Hieron's long career finally have a UFC win? Hieron has a record of 23-5, and has fought in the UFC twice. His first fight in the Octagon was at UFC 48 against some up-and-comer named Georges St-Pierre, who knocked Hieron out in the first round. A year later, he fought Jonathan Goulet at Ultimate Fight Night 2 and lost because of a cut. Seven years later and after stops in the IFL, Strikeforce and Bellator, Hieron is back for a bout with Jake Ellenberger. It's not an easy bout. Will he get the win?
Who will be the next flyweight title challenger? Actually, it's who will be the first flyweight challenger, since Demetrious Johnson is the first owner of the belt. The title shot will go to either "The Ultimate Fighter" winner John Dodson, or Jussier Formiga, who is on five-fight win streak and is making his UFC debut.
Have any predictions for the fights? Speak up in the comments, on Twitter or on Facebook.

Donate to Bellator fighter Brian Rogers? Fund a Fighter campaign, see your name on TV
Bellator fighter Brian Rogers would like your help. He is fighting at Bellator 78 on Oct. 26, and is running a fun contest on Fund A Fighter, a website that encourages fans to make donations large and small to a fighter's camp. In return, fighters give away merchandise, fight experiences and other cool stuff.
Rogers is adding a twist to his campaign. Half of the money raised through his campaign will go to Leap, a special education program Rogers used to work for. He recently quit his job as a special education teacher to focus on fighting full-time, and talks about what more technology for the students would do here:
The biggest donor over the course of this week will get the chance to have his or her name written on Rogers' sponsor banner. The banners are unrolled during a fighter's introduction, and it would be really fun to see a Cagereader's name on that banner.
Here's what to do: go to FundAFighter.com and make a donation for Rogers' campaign. He has a ton of goodies listed for donors, so even if you can't make a huge donation, a small one can still help Rogers and Leap.

With wife expecting, Stephan Bonnar ready to jump on private jet after UFC 153
Though Stephan Bonnar has UFC 153 and Anderson Silva on his mind, he has another concern when he's in Brazil this week. Bonnar's wife Andrea is pregnant and due at the end of the month. Since babies are born on their own schedule and not the UFC's, Bonnar has a contingency plan ready to go for the event Andrea goes into labor earlier than expected.
According to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, UFC president Dana White has offered to fly Bonnar back to his home in Las Vegas immediately after the fight with Silva in his private jet.
Bonnar took White up on his offer, but the Bonnars still have another plan in place, according to TMZ.
Andrea says Stephanplans to video conference in to his wife's birth if he can't make it in time -- but she adds, "We're trying to avoid even thinking about that."
Their son's birth will be forever connected to Bonnar's last-minute fight with Silva. After featherweight champion Jose Aldo's injury threatened UFC 153, Bonnar stepped up to fight Silva, the middleweight champion and pound-for-pound king at light heavyweight.
There is a chance their son will be connected to Bonnar's most famous fight, as well. As Iole also mentioned, Stephan and Andrea are considering naming their son Griffin Bonnar in honor of the Bonnar-Forrest Griffin bout at the first "Ultimate Fighter" finale.

Gus Johnson Signs With Fox but Stays With Showtime
Sources told MMAFighting.com that Johnson's contract with CBS was for basketball and football, and that his deal to call fights (both MMA and boxing) for Showtime was a separate contract. That contract is still in effect, and Johnson will call Saturday night's Andre Ward-Arthur Abraham boxing match for Showtime. Although Showtime hasn't yet announced who will broadcast its next MMA show (a June 18 Strikeforce card), Johnson is expected to call that event as well.
Theoretically, it's even possible that Johnson could be back on the CBS airwaves if CBS ever aired another Strikeforce fight: When Johnson called EliteXC and Strikeforce fights on CBS in the past, that was part of his Showtime deal. It's probably a long shot that we'd see Johnson back on CBS, however.

Quinton Jackson: ?Forrest don?t want to fight me again because Forrest knows I beat him the first time.?
Biggest underdog in UFC history, Stephan Bonnar says ?It wouldn?t suck? to beat Anderson Silva
Stephan Bonnar is, as best as can be determined, the biggest underdog in UFC history. The race & sports book at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas opened his UFC 153 opponent, Anderson Silva, as a whopping minus-1100 favorite.
Noted MMA oddsmaker Joey Oddessa said the price "is so high because it should be that high."
The main event of UFC 153, a three-round bout at light heavyweight at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, is considered such a blowout that the UFC made a commercial making light of the odds in favor of Bonnar.
It's all a big joke, except to Bonnar. He may not win, but don't tell him that. He's not preparing just to earn a paycheck. Winning, and being able to thumb his nose at all who dissed him, is all that is on his mind.
"I enjoy reading the negative tweets [about] how I don't stand a chance," Bonnar said. "Because yeah, I pull it off and those people's jaws are going to drop the widest."
There will be plenty of jaws dropping. UFC contender Patrick Cote, who lost a middleweight title fight to Silva at UFC 90, struggled to find a way Bonnar could win.
In MMA, there are so many ways to win a fight that it's very dangerous to count someone out, but Cote said he has difficulty envisioning how Bonnar could pull it off.
"I can't see anybody beating him," Cote said. "He's been dominating at middleweight for a long time, but he's done the same in the light heavyweight class the couple of times he's fought there. It's just the same.
"You know, I've always said, you can be favored by millions of people, but when the bell rings, it's 50-50. But in this case? I don't think so. Bonnar is tough, and he's a big guy, too. Let's be honest. It's going to be hard. It would be the biggest upset ever in the history of combat sports if Bonnar wins. Anything can happen, but no, I really don't think he has a chance to win."
Despite the thought among most experts that Bonnar has little chance to win, most bettors who are taking the risk are betting the underdog.
That's because of the way the odds work. At the MGM Grand, Bonnar is at plus-750, meaning that a bettor who wagers $100 on Bonnar would win $750 should Bonnar be victorious. In order to win $100 on Silva, though, a bettor would have to lay $1,100.
That scares most bettors off, so they wind up either better the underdog or not betting the fight. Boxer Mike Tyson lost twice as a massive favorite, once at 42-1 to Buster Douglas in 1990 and then at 24-1 to Evander Holyfield in 1996.
Bookies, though, aren't wild about posting odds like that because it creates a lot of liability for them. If a couple of bettors take a shot on the underdog and the underdog comes through, it will make for a bad day.
That is not typically the case in UFC fights, said Jay Rood, the race and sports book director at the MGM Grand. Most of the time, the matches are competitive and so, too, are the odds.
But there are several large favorites at UFC 153. In addition to Silva at minus-1100, Phil Davis is about a 4-1 favorite over Wagner Prado and Glover Texeira is 4-1 over Fabio Maldonado.
"In this sport, it's a little more difficult [to make a fighter a big favorite]," Rood said. "It doesn't typically happen. Three-eight, four dollars, that's a big price on a UFC fight. On this card, Teixeira is almost four dollars; Davis is almost four dollar. There are some big numbers out there.
"Since it is not going to be here, the volume will be considerably lower than what I would like. This is a bad card for a bookmaker, because there are so many big dogs on it and in this sport, moreso than in boxing now, is Bonnar really an 8-1 underdog? Wow, I'll tell you. I don't know. That's a pretty big dog." Rood said. "We'll probably be rooting for Silva" on Saturday because of the large number of bets the MGM will take on Bonnar.
In what is regarded as the biggest upset in UFC history, Matt Serra knocked out Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69 in 2007 to win the welterweight title. St-Pierre opened at around 6-1, Oddessa said, but bettors kept betting him. By the time the fight went off, St-Pierre was a 15-1 favorite.
"Georges opened at minus-600, but it was all money that drove that number so high," Oddessa said. "No one was willing to take a shot on Serra. They kept hammering St-Pierre and the number kept going up and up."
Serra landed that one punch, though, that changed the fight, won him the belt and earned him a place in UFC history.
When Bonnar got the fight against Silva, he said one of the first calls he received was from Serra.
Those were two guys who shared a common link.
"He was where I was and just called to wish me luck and everything," Bonnar said. "But I remember something he said. He went, 'You know, it doesn't suck winning as a huge underdog like that.' And he's right. It definitely wouldn't suck to win this fight."

Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez won't need surgery, January return not set
Melendez's manager and father, Gilbert Melendez Sr., expressed optimism that his son will be able to compete on a Strikeforce card planned for mid-January, though it depends on how quickly the fighter's recovery progresses.
"There's no definite yes," Melendez today told MMAjunkie.com. "It all depends if his body is healing on time as we anticipate."
Luiz Cane cut after losing at UFC 153
After notching a fourth defeat in his last five fights it looks like Luiz Cane has been released by the UFC. His latest stumble came on October 13 against Chris Camozzi when the two locked horns at UFC 153. Cane lost the bout by way of decision, his second straight in Brazil after beating Eliot Marshall in March 2011.
Cane?s release was confirmed by his manager in a conversation with TATAME.
A Closer Look at Cane?s Loss to Camozzi
The 12-5 Cane looked like he would go fairly far in the UFC, losing his debut by disqualification before stringing together a trio of consecutive victories. Eleven of his wins have involved some form of stoppage including ten TKOs. Among his notable triumphs are those over Jason Lambert, Steve Cantwell, and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.
