Legendary light heavyweight Dan Henderson has stepped into the ring 37 times against some of the hardest-hitters in MMA?s history including Wanderlei Silva, Quinton Jackson, Vitor Belfort, and Fedor Emelianenko. While he may not boast an unbeaten record, one category pertaining to his in-ring career still remains a zero ? the number of times he?s been stopped by strikes.
However, come September 1, UFC champion Jon Jones plans to change that when the two tussle in headlining action at UFC 151.
Jones Ready to Rise to the Challenge of Beating Henderson
?I feel very confident that I’m gonna be the first guy to TKO him,? said Jones in an interview with the UFC. ?Slowly, methodically, hitting one hit at a time until he decides his body is hurting and he wants the fight to be over. Nature will take its course.?
Jones? confidence comes from his own run of success against the likes of Jackson, Mauricio Rua, Lyoto Machida, and Rashad Evans. After facing a ?murderer?s row? of 205-pounders, ?Bones? sees Henderson as another opponent rather than a first-ballot Hall of Fame fighter who held PRIDE/Strikeforce titles.
?Dan Henderson?s just another tough guy. He?s not this big, mythical character for me,? stated Jones on his iconic adversary.
