Fedor Emelianenko training on a horse for Feb. 12 bout

Oh, why hello, there. I am Fedor Emelianenko, the greatest fighter in the world. It's so nice to meet you. Wait, what did you just say? Fabricio Wer-who?

That's funny. You ... you, my friend, are funny. I did lose to Werdum. It is true. But did you hear about the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix?

I was stopped dead in my tracks when I heard about. The chance to fight Fabricio again? Or Alistair Overeem? Yes, that made me think.

I have to win that grand prix.

I'm going to show who the best heavyweight in the world is, even if it means I have to spar in a Stalin-era pool hall. (No, wait. Why am I here? I'm the greatest fighter in the world, and I'm training at a place where any Sergei Schmo can come in off the street to play nine-ball?)

I'll do it for you, my friend. I'll do it for you, and of course, to impress the ladies.

You'll see on Feb. 12, my friend.

All pictures courtesy of Fedor's website. Thanks to Fightlinker for the heads up.

Timothy Bradley Vs. Devon Alexander Undercard Results

PONTIAC, Mich. -- Saturday night's superfight between undefeated belt-holders Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander expected not only to create boxing's next superstar, but also serve as a litmus test for the viability of Michigan as a staging ground for championship fights going forward.

The owners of the Silverdome spent just $583,000 to purchase the property less than a year ago and somehow coughed up more than a half million dollars to host the fight, leading locals and fight fans to wonder whether they were delusional or just foolish. The success of Saturday night's card will say a lot about the viability of big-time boxing in a historic hotbed of the sport.

Saturday night's undercard proved unexpectedly entertaining, with several dramatic knockouts and a couple longer battles thrown in for good measure. Here's our take; for a lengthier account of the night with some additional color, stop by Stiff Jab.

Nick Diaz's Willingness to Brawl Is Fun, but Is It Smart?

Filed under:

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Nick Diaz doesn't like getting hit in the face, he says. It's dangerous. It's painful. And when done by a guy like Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos, it's just not much fun.

That's why it's a little surprising, after seeing how easily he dispatched of Santos once the fight hit the mat, that he's willing to do it so often.
