Three UFC 121 main card fighters receive six-month suspensions

As favorable as ?UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez? might have been for a number of its participants? pocketbooks, the event was equally unfortunate where health was concerned with some of the same men who earned the most money also looking at the greatest amount of potential time on the sidelines. According to the California State [...]

Strikeforce crew bullish on Cain's chances to pull the upset

Fight night is only a few days away and it's starting to feel like a great main event is on the way. Brock Lesnar is a slight favorite at minus-160, but there are tons of people picking Cain Velasquez, especially inside the fight world. Fight Magazine caught up with some of the folks around Strikeforce and most of them like Velasquez.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker and announcer Frank Shamrock tabbed the challenger to steal the belt. Of course, Shamrock prefaces his pick by saying that he taught the fight game to "Crazy" Bob Cook, Velasquez's trainer, at American Kickboxing Academy. Randy Couture, attending the EA MMA game intro, likes Lesnar but said Cain has the ability to tire the big guy. HDNet announcer and former UFC fighter Bas Rutten also thinks stamina is the key. Dan Henderson is in the Cain corner as well, saying that Velasquez is going to be too much for Lesnar. The capper is Fedor Emelianenko, who really doesn't make a pick and shrugs at the end.

MMA Top 10 Pound-for-Pound Women: Zoila Frausto Moves to No. 2

by Michael David SmithMegumi FujiiBellator did a great thing for women's mixed martial arts this season, putting together an eight-woman tournament that featured six very good American fighters, the undefeated Irishwoman Aisling Daly, and the undisputed best fighter in Japan, Megumi Fujii.

As it turned out, it was Zoila Frausto, who initially wasn't even supposed to be a part of the tournament, who won the whole thing, first knocking out Rosi Sexton to earn her spot in the tournament in June, then beating Jessica Pene by unanimous decision in August, Jessica Aguilar by split decision in September, and Megumi Fujii by split decision in October. It was a very impressive run over the last five months, and it moves her to No. 2 in our latest women's pound-for-pound rankings.

You won't be surprised to learn that No. 1 remains Cris Cyborg, whose powerful striking and killer instinct take women's MMA to another level. Find out the other eight in our Top 10 below.

Managers caught by surprise with WEC merger, unsure whether current contracts will extend

Although there were hints of a big change on the horizon, the UFC/WEC merger caught many fight managers by surprise.

Of several prominent managers MMAjunkie.com spoke with, none were aware of concrete plans to fold WEC talent into the UFC.

As such, there are still questions to be answered about the fate of those under contract with the lighter-weighted promotion, namely whether they will reap the immediate financial benefits of fighting on a bigger stage.

Despite the constant insistence of Elton John it turns out that in fact Saturday night is not alright for fighting, as super-middleweight prospect George Groves first Commonwealth title defence against James Odebe Toney was called off after the challenger failed a pre-fight medical.

Efrain Escudero on His UFC Release: "To This Day, It Doesn?t Make Sense."

Since the show?s inception, the ufc has made a clear effort to protect and continue to employ the notable fighters from the long-running UFC reality TV show ?The Ultimate Fighter?, especially the winners of the various seasons.
