Weekend warriors: Eddie Alvarez and Andreas Spang make headlines
Though the weekend was dominated by some title fight in Atlanta, Friday night's Bellator and "The Ultimate Fighter" bouts brought plenty of excitement, both during and after the fights.
At Bellator, Eddie Alvarez made quick work of Shinya Aoki in their rematch, as Aoki had no answer for Alvarez's striking. Aoki's corner threw in the towel seconds before the match was stopped two minutes into the first round.
As shown in the video above, Andreas Spang took out Brian Rogers with a left hook in the second round after Rogers had been winning the bout. Afterwards, Spang gave the crowd in Cleveland two middle fingers and got in a scrap with Maiquel Falcao. Though he expects to be disciplined by the Ohio Athletic Commission, his spot in the middleweight tourney is safe.
He'll face Falcao there after Falcao earned his spot by outlasting Vyacheslav Vasilevsky to a split decision. In the lightweight tournament, Rick Hawn took just a round and 10 seconds to knock out Lloyd Woodard, while Brent Weedman took a split decision from Thiago Michel.
On TUF, Vinc Pichel and John Cofer turned in a three-round decision that was one of the best fights of the season. The first round featured stand-up which could have gone to either fighter, while Pichel's grappling gave him the second. In the third, Pichel got a quick takedown and arm triangle choke to get the win for Team Cruz. On Friday, Sam Sicilia from Team Cruz will fight Team Faber's Chris Saunders.

MMA Top 10 Middleweights: Intrigue Grows at 185 Pounds
That's not to say Silva is boring: When he's on his game, he's as exciting as any athlete this sport has ever seen. And it's not to say the other fighters in the division are boring: There have been plenty of good middleweight scraps over the last few months.
But ranking the middleweight division can get boring because not much changes: It's always Silva on top, and a familiar cast of characters competing for the right to be Silva's next victim.
But there are some indications that the middleweight division in mixed martial arts might be getting a little more interesting. Yushin Okami is finally scheduled to get the title shot that was promised to him months ago, Chael Sonnen is finally getting close to being cleared for a return, and the addition of Strikeforce middleweights (starting in July with Jason Mayhem Miller and likely including Strikeforce champ Jacare Souza soon) may inject some new blood into the middleweight class.
So now is a good time to update our list of the Top 10 middleweights in mixed martial arts, keeping an eye on what's ahead for Silva and the other top fighters.

Jon Jones? brother Chandler drafted by Patriots
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones now will have divided loyalties come this football season. His younger brother Chandler was drafted by the New England Patriots. Jones' older brother Arthur plays for the Baltimore Ravens.
As Les Carpenter pointed out in this must-read piece, the Jones family is one of the most athletic in America. All three sons are now professional athletes. In an interview with Cagewriter, Jon once said that Chandler is the best of them all.
Jon's loyalty will be tested in September, when the Patriots will head to Baltimore to face the Ravens. Jon has to hope he is not scheduled to fight at UFC 152 in Toronto, which is happening the night before his brothers play each other.

The Rabbit Punch: WBC Strips Champion Of Title Because ?Screw Him?
The WBC also announced shortly thereafter that interim 175 pound titleholder Julio Cesar Ramos will face Julio Cesar Ramon in Mexico City to fill the vacancy. That fight will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, the day before Mexican Independence Day.
The Mexico City-based WBC, often criticized for favoring Mexican fighters, did nothing to dissuade the boxing media of that notion in a press conference announcing the decision.
When asked why Truffant was being stripped, despite having defended his title successfully and without controversy just three weeks earlier, and although he had already entered into negotiations for his next defense in the fall, WBC President Jose Sulaiman indignantly defended the decision.
?Why? Because screw him,? Sulaiman told reporters. ?Screw him and anybody who disagrees with me.?
?Why would he do this?? Truffant asked plaintively when told of the WBC?s decision and Sulaiman?s subsequent comments. ?This is my livelihood he?s messing with. And why does he have to be such a dick about it? What the hell is wrong with this guy??
In spite of Truffant?s status as a well-respected fighting champion, Sulaiman completely dismissed any protests on his behalf.
?If you don?t like my decision, you can kiss my ass,? Sulaiman said to the awestruck media. ?Tyrus can kiss my ass, too, but it won?t get him the WBC title back.?
When asked if he was sure that he wanted go on record with such derisive comments directed at a man who did nothing but defend the WBC belt with dignity and honor, Sulaiman laughed.
?The only thing I?m more sure of is that Truffant isn?t fit to lick loose shit out of my asshole, let alone represent my exalted organization as a world champion,? replied Sulaiman. ?Fuck that guy.?
Ramos, the beneficiary of the WBC?s actions, largely ignored the controversy and expressed gratitude toward the WBC and Sulaiman for the opportunity.
?I have dreamed of this day since I was a young boy, to fight for the most prestigious world championship in front of all my fans in Mexico. I want to thank Jose Sulaiman and the WBC for giving me a chance to make my dreams come true,? he said through a translator. ?I would be honored to ingest even his foulest waste.?
Meanwhile, Truffant was far less laudatory than Ramos in his remarks about Sulaiman, though he refrained from addressing the longtime WBC president?s offensive statements in kind.
?I don?t really know what to say about any of it. I think I?d be less insulted if he had just spit in my face,? he said, shaking his head with disillusionment and disgust.
?Oh, good idea,? Sulaiman said. He then spit directly in Truffant?s face.
The WBC later issued a press release congratulating Sulaiman on his aim and the viscosity of his saliva.

Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva II moved to UFC 148 in Las Vegas
After logistical problems put UFC 147 in Rio de Janeiro in question, UFC president Dana White confirmed today Chael Sonnen's title rematch with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be moved to UFC 148 in Las Vegas on July 7.
"I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that Chael and Anderson will be fighting, but the bad news is that we can't do it here," White told a room full of reporters in Rio.
A United Nations convention causing logistical issues and difficulty finding a venue forced the change.
UFC 147, which will feature "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" finals as well as coaches Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva facing off, still does not have a venue. The fights are still expected to take place on June 23 in Brazil.
White said Anderson Silva was not happy about the fight moving from his home country.
"He was upset about not fighting in Brazil. It took a lot of talking, and I finally convinced Anderson to take this fight in Las Vegas," White said.
Silva said that he does have fans all over the world, so he is comfortable fighting in Las Vegas.
"I'm a UFC athlete and I don't have fans just in Brazil but all over the world. Nothing will change. But I will do my job as always," Silva said.
Sonnen was disappointed that he wouldn't get a chance to break the UFC's attendance record of 55,000 set in Toronto at UFC 129.
"It was disappointing. I was hoping to be a part of breaking that record. But Las Vegas is the fight capital of the world and this is the biggest fight in the history of combat. My plan was to come here, take your money and my new belt and go back to America, but now I have to wait and stomp him on July 7. That's exactly what I'm going to do."
Adding Sonnen vs. Silva II as the main event at UFC 148 strengthens what was already a blockbuster card. At UFC 148, Urijah Faber will fight Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight belt, Rich Franklin will face Cung Le, Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin will fight for the third time, and Michael Bisping will fight Tim Boetsch.
